Seniors’ Eviction Prevention Initiative
Between October 2016 and February 2017, CERA gathered input from and held roundtable conversations and a community forum with senior tenants, front-line workers, and other stakeholders across the GTA.
Read our report and recommendations. We hope that our findings will lead to community-led strategies and system-wide improvements that meet the needs of vulnerable senior tenants in the GTA.
Human Rights & Rental Housing in Ontario, A Self-Advocacy Toolkit – Now available in four more languages.
This Tenant Toolkit is an easy to use Guide that has been designed to address common questions and walk tenants through practical examples of ways you can self-advocate. It is now available in French, Arabic, Spanish and Inuktitut.
Unlocking the AODA – Landlords’ Obligations Under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
These resources are designed to assist small-to-medium-sized landlords in implementing the requirements o the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005. These resources were produced by CERA with support from the Government of Ontario.
Facilitating Local Responses to Housing Discrimination
This initiative sees CERA traveling to communities across the province to discuss local priority housing issues.
Youth Housing Rights
Our Youth Housing Rights Program addresses the barriers faced by youth living in the margins, specifically with respect to inequality and discrimination in housing. The initiative incorporates creative legal education, and self-advocacy training to address barriers to housing for youth. CERA’s “Know Your Rights!” booklet can be accessed below.
Northern Housing Rights (2015)
Northern Housing Rights was a capacity-building initiative undertaken by the Metis Nation of Ontario (MNO) and CERA. The initiative investigated the experiences of housing discrimination among First Nation, Metis and Inuit people in Northwestern Ontario. Resources produced as a part of this project can be found below.
